ABOUT US:

Bentonville Garden Club EST. 1947-48


Our mission in 1948 was and is now “To make Bentonville the most beautiful and friendliest city in Northwest Arkansas.”  Bentonville Garden Club today is following the mission started so many years ago by a group of women with names we know today.  Such as, Massie, Craig, Compton, Peel, McKinney, Walton, Burger, Powell, Harrison, Linebarger, Pickens, Rakes, and so many more.

We strive “to make our best better," following the strong women before us. Through dedication and hard work, BGC has maintained this mission through many projects. Projects include; Garden Therapy, Youth Education, City Beautification through our Greenhouse Project, Mayor Prayer Breakfast florals and Peel Mansion Holiday Florals and Decor, Conservation, and Botanical Arts to learn design and become judges for floral designs.

Our accomplishments include establishing an endowment at the U of A of $115,000 that provides scholarships for students pursuing a horticulture degree.


Through the years, we have continuously won numerous National, State, Regional and local awards.


We are a daytime club of fifty members, and most of our projects take place in the daytime hours.

National Garden Club, Inc. provides education, resources, and national networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, and civic and environmental responsibility.

National Garden Club History Dates Back to 1891

The first garden club in America was founded in January 1891 by The Ladies Garden Club of Athens, Georgia. On May 1, 1929, 13 federated states became charter members at an organizational meeting in Washington, D.C. In 1935, the National Garden Clubs established headquarters at Rockefeller Center in New York City. A permanent headquarters building in St. Louis was dedicated May 10, 1958.
